James joined the KCCI News team in August of 2021 as the Chief Investigative Reporter and a fill-in anchor. Before Des Moines, James worked in a variety of roles in the Quad Cities at KWQC TV-6 and as an evening anchor and investigative reporter at 13 WREX in Rockford, Illinois. In Rockford, his reporting and anchoring contributed to seven regional Edward R. Murrow awards, including Excellence in Writing in 2020. That entry focused on two major stories in the Rockford area, the COVID-19 pandemic and a record number of unsolved murders in the city.
